Richard 'Dickie' Grice (Grice Avenue)

Group Captain Richard Grice DFC

Wing Commander Richard "Dickie" Grice (promoted to Group Captain in 1939) who was the Biggin Hill station commander in 1940, won his DFC in the 1914/18 War. When he was promoted he was placed in an Armadillo vehicle and driven around the dispersals at Biggin Hill. Pilots and ground crew alike applauded their station commander in his new senior role.
